I’m sure you’ve heard by now (or perhaps you attended): Bernie Sanders was here—84 years old and still as inspiring as ever. In talking to folks waiting in line, whether it was to hear Graham Platner, Troy Jackson or Senator Sanders, one thing is universal: we're pissed and fired up for change. The afterglow of 6,500 Mainers from all over the state roaring on their feet, in community, made me want to scream, “UNITE!” and so I am. FRIGGEN UNITE!!!!
Listen, it’s not even about the candidate you’re backing! It’s a question of: “What are we going to do as a community to get there?” If you’re doing ANYTHING, great! If you’re desperate for change, and just screaming at your TV, phone, or at a MAGA cult member, that is NOT going to get us there! If you’re thinking “How?” or “What can I do?” an easy step is to reach out to an organization whose efforts speak to you. Activate Maine has a robust, searchable database of organizations in Maine Search by region, or subject: from LGBTQ to Immigration and everything in between - there are many opportunities. Trust me, I still scream into my pillow at the shit going on but ACTION fills my heart with hope. Activate Maine would be nothing without volunteers, and even those volunteers could use respite and help. Organizations are GRINDING and are TIRED. HELP! Change has to come from the ground up. Mutual Aid literally means, “together helping.”
FRIGGEN UNITE!
